Hidden in the beautiful Vale of Kerry lies The
Forest; a splendid Victorian country house B&B set in 4 acres of
attractive gardens and paddocks. Its tranquil setting makes it
the perfect place in which to relax and an ideal base from
which to explore the many attractions of Mid Wales including Powis
Castle National Trust at Welshpool. Less than a mile away is
Kerry village which has a pub restaurant and it is a 5 minute
drive from Newtown, a 13th century market town. This ancient
town, along with Welshpool and Montgomery, has antique shops,
museums, castle ruins and art galleries. On the border of
Powys and Shropshire, The Forest offers a comfortable but
informal atmosphere where children of all ages are welcome and is an ideal
rural retreat away from the rush and bustle of modern life.
The Bed and Breakfast - Guest House B&B
The Forest offers 5 star luxury B and B accommodation in 5
charming en-suite double rooms, one with a four-poster bed. All
the bedrooms, and the spacious drawing room, have fine views of
the garden and the Kerry Valley. All rooms are furnished to a
very high standard with keen attention to detail. The
furnishings and decoration of each room are different but all
share a style which respects the original Victorian
architecture. Pets are welcome in our kennels.
Forest Country Guest House is a family run bed and breakfast
and the home of Paul & Michelle Martin and their 2 young
children. Families with children of all ages are welcome.
 The
Forest is approached from a quiet rural lane leading to
our main entrance where there is ample parking.

The Forest's secluded setting
The Forest B and B,
along with its self catering cottages, nestles in a narrow valley bordered
by Gilfach woods and the little river Mule.
The quiet lane
hardly sees any traffic apart from the odd tractor.
There are many walks from the door step as well as easy access
to well known walks such as Offas' Dyke, Glyndwrs Way and the
Kerry Ridgeway.
Nearby are the dams of Lake Vyrnwy and the Elan Valley which
offer spectacular views across the countryside of Wales.
Reception Hall and Rooms
Its large
entrance hall contains an impressive oak staircase which
leads to 5 attractive en-suite bedrooms. The drawing
room, dining room and bedrooms retain many original
Victorian features from arched windows and oak doors to
elegant coving and architraves. Our suit of armour is a
favourite with the children.
Guests
are welcome to use the drawing room where a TV, books,
and board games are available.
A laptop with WIFI Internet access
is also available free of charge.
A restored antique Bechstein Grand Piano is a centre piece
and guests are invited to play it.
Gardens
 The
gardens, which everyone is welcome to enjoy, were laid out
over many decades by gardeners with a real passion for
planting yet remain informal with a large lawn ideal for
games. In the borders there are ancient yew trees, colourful
azaleas and rhododendrons, lovely acers and a wonderful magnolia.
You can sit in the garden and watch the abundant wildlife,
take a stroll through our woodland by the pond or simply kick
a football about.
Tennis Court, Games Room, Play Area, Fort,
Hot Tub, Swimming Pool
The Forest
has a tennis court for everyone's enjoyment and
a children's play area with a swing and climbing frame.
For older children we have Forest Fort, a large timber
fort with climbing wall, lookout tower and hideaways. For
swimming there are swimming pools at the leisure
centres in both Newtown and Welshpool.
A free games room with pool, table football and table tennis
is in the room above our stables. See

An outdoor hot tub jacuzzi spa may be available to hire
for exclusive use whenever Forest Cottage is vacant.
The hot tub spa has 26 jacuzzi jets for an all over body
massage and is kept at a comfortable 38 degrees C. It is
located to the side of Forest Cottage and is not overlooked
ensuring complete privacy.
We strive to offer the highest quality bed and breakfast
accommodation for walkers, riders, cyclists, business people,
families and holiday makers looking for a secluded and
tranquil location in which to relax and from which to explore
the diverse attractions of The Welsh Marches and Mid Wales.
There is a lot to do and see in this beautiful area of The
Welsh Marches including walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, castles to
explore and pretty villages and towns. The Forest's central
location on the border of Wales and England, and good road links makes it an ideal base with easy
driving to Welshpool, Montgomery, Shrewsbury, Chester, Ludlow, Machynlleth and Builth
Wells. Slightly further away lie the beautiful Brecon Beacons,
breathtaking Snowdonia and the Cardigan Bay beaches of
Aberystwyth with Aberdyfi and Borth just
an hour's drive away.
We hope that
