The following is a small selection of indoor activities available in the local area. Please ask for details and maps.

King Arthur's Labyrinth

King Arthur's LabyrinthAn exciting underground adventure unfolds as you sail along a subterranean river, through the great waterfall, deep inside the spectacular Labyrinth and far into the past.

Dramatic tales of Dragons, Battles, Giants, torrential floodings and much more are brought to life through dramatic tableaux and thrilling sound and light effects. The Arthur we tell of is the hero of the earliest legends, a Dark Age warrior fighting the Saxon invader to bring peace to Britain.

 

 

Llywernog Silver-Lead Mine

Llywernog Silver-Lead MineLlywernog is an authentic 18th century silver mine. A visit to Llywernog offers a fascinating insight into life nearly 200 years ago, when the mine employed over 60 people. Today, Llywernog is a fascinating and educational family adventure, and continues to be developed as a major all-weather attraction. Friendly and knowledgeable guides are always on hand to answer your questions and identify your geological finds

Visitors wear helmets with lights to go into one of the old mines just like real miners. There is a museum and cafe and the 'Miners Trail' is a self-guide footpath around the old workings of the mine site.

Park Hall Countryside Experience
Park HallPark Hall near Oswestry is one of the region’s most exciting family visitor attractions. With 40,000 square feet of indoor attractions, regular hands-on animal activities, lots of outdoor play and driving activities there is never a dull moment for the kids.
The 130 acre farm promises hours of farming fun and energetic activities.

 


Mickey Miller's Play Barn
Mickey Miller'sIn Craven Arms the Mickey Miller Play Barn is a great indoor activities for children of all ages and they actively encourage the adults to go in and join in the fun with their children. It is an all weather attraction providing family entertainment all year round. There is also a kiddies corner for the very young with a newly installed toddlers play frame and a whole section of additional play equipment slide and bridges. The maze at Oakfield Farm is planted to an elaborate design with 5 miles of paths and is open mid July to Mid September.

 

Spaceguard Centre

Spaceguard CentreThe Spaceguard Centre is a working astronomical observatory concerned with Near Earth Objects (asteroids and comets) and the threat they pose to life on Earth. It is linked to three robotic telescopes in Australia, Hawaii and the Canary Islands via the Net. The centre has a planetarium with a mini dome which seats 25 and a working model of the solar system. Day and evening tours can be pre-booked.

 

 

Museum of Sculpture
Museum of SculptureSet in Berriew a delightful little village, of typical traditional Welsh, black & white houses. Frequently awarded the Best Kept Village in Wales, close to Powis Castle and the ancient town of Montgomery. Andrew Logan's work is the art of popular poetry and metropolitan glamour. It is an art which resounds with the exuberant excess of a Busby Berkeley musical.

 


Welsh Royal Crystal
Welsh Royal CrystalCenturies old handcrafting skills are used in the Welsh Royal Crystal glass making workshops. All crystal pieces are individually mouth blown and hand cut, thus capturing the clarity, brilliance and sharpness of cut associated with quality crystal ware.
The range of shapes and decorative cuts embraces Traditional, Intaglio and Celtic design influences, which are unique to Welsh Royal Crystal products.

Once called ‘the most commodious and elegant apartments for a judge in all England and Wales’ (Lord Chief Justice Campbell, 1855). Now, aided by an interior hardly touched by time and original furnishings discarded in attics, extensive research and restoration has re-awakened this ‘Victorian fossil’.

 

 

Machinations

The only permanent exhibition of contemporary Automata (mechanical moving models) in the UK. The hands-on interactive moving model characters spin, whirl or bob up and down with fascinating mechanisms displaying cogs, cams and levers - an infinite variety of movement.
There is also a rabbit village where visitors can watch rabbits in their own rabbit scale houses and a play barn with climbing equipment, slide, soft play for little'uns with bouncy ball.

 

 

Stokesay Castle

Stokesay CastleStokesay Castle is the finest and best preserved 13th century fortified manor house in England. It offers visitors a unique glimpse into a distant age, when strength and elegance were combined.
Set amid peaceful countryside near Craven Arms it forms an outstandingly picturesque group with its timber-framed gatehouse and the parish church. The castle has two towers joined by a buttressed Great Banquetting Hall, with long, gothic, gabled windows. Massive roof timbers, made from whole trees dominate the Great Hall.
